Stole Money to Use At Casino Games Sites

A former Ramsey County, Minnesota Sheriff’s Deputy has been charged with stealing money from her former employer, spending the money at the Treasure Island casino games site.

The former Sheriff’s Deputy, Lori E. Kratzke, 42, of Woodbury, Minnesota was arrested on Friday February 10, and charged with three counts of felony theft. If she is convicted, she will serve a maximum of 60 years in prison, and will pay a maximum fine of $300,000.

Kratzke was a Sheriff’s Deputy in July 2005 when she stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from an escrow account related to a bankruptcy foreclosure to use at casino games sites. An accounting clerk noticed the discrepancy, and notified the authorities. The former Sheriff’s Deputy also stole from the police department on two separate occasions.

A search warrant was issued for Kratzke’s home, and the search turned up more than $400,000 in winning slips from casino games sites such as Treasure Island Casino. Kratzke won more that $104,000 at casino games sites into the two- day period from April 28, 2005 to April 30, 2005.

Kratzke admitted to the three separate incidents of theft when questioned by police investigators.
